Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a Certified Professional Biller (CPB) to join our Revenue Cycle Management team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurate and timely medical billing, claim submission, and follow-ups to ensure maximum reimbursement from commercial payers, Medicare, and Medicaid. This role plays a critical part in minimizing denials, improving cash flow, and maintaining compliance with U.S. healthcare billing regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Billing & Claims Management
- Prepare, review, and submit clean medical claims in compliance with payer and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure accurate charge entry based on provider documentation and coding guidelines.
- Submit claims to commercial insurance carriers, Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payers.
- Monitor claim status and perform timely follow-ups on unpaid or underpaid claims.
Denials & Rejections Handling
- Analyze claim denials and rejections to identify root causes.
- Correct errors and resubmit claims or initiate appeals as required.
- Collaborate with Coding and AR teams to prevent recurring denials.
Payment Posting & Reconciliation
- Post insurance payments, adjustments, and denials accurately in the billing system.
- Reconcile EOBs/ERAs with billed charges to ensure correct reimbursement.
- Identify and escalate underpayments or contractual discrepancies.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS regulations, and payer-specific billing guidelines.
- Maintain accurate documentation of billing activities and payer communications.
- Stay updated with changes in billing regulations, payer policies, and reimbursement rules.
Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with Coding, Eligibility, AR, and Provider teams to support end-to-end RCM workflows.
- Assist in billing audits and provide data for internal quality and performance reviews.
- Meet productivity, accuracy, and turnaround time KPIs.
Qualifications & RequirementsEducation & Certification
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) certification required (AAPC or equivalent).
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not mandatory.
Experience
- Minimum 2–4 years of hands-on experience in U.S. healthcare medical billing.
- Experience with outpatient billing, preferably in family medicine, internal medicine, or primary care.
- Strong exposure to commercial payers, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care plans.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in EMRs, practice management systems, and clearinghouses.
- Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, modifiers, and payer billing rules.
- Comfortable working with EOBs, ERAs, and payer portals.
